Eventually the kitchen cabinets will all be faced with hickory trim and hickory doors that I plan
to build myself. Here is 1,450 square feet of 7/8 inch thick hickory that we bought from a
hardwood dealer in Tucson for that purpose. This stuff is dense and very heavy ... I estimated
the stack to weigh well over two tons and it took me three hours to carry it all into the house.
We chose a 1 1/4 inch thick granite slab for the island countertop, and here the installers are
cutting the hole for the sink. You can also see the refrigerator now in place in the background.
Here we've installed the large hammered copper sink and the faucets.
