Progress,  page 94
This picture shows the 5-burner cooktop installed in the east wall cabinets.  The backsplash was
made from 12 inch granite tile cut from the same Brazilian quarry as the island counter top, and
we spent quite a bit of time trying to make the patterns match as best we could.  We hand-built
the copper counter tops on either side of the cooktop (as well as a third one to the left of the
ovens) from sheet copper we bought at a salvage place in Phoenix before the price of copper
skyrocketed.
The kitchen itself has no overhead cabinets.  Instead, the west wall of the kitchen area will be
essentially one big pantry with lots of shelves and large drawers, seen here only partially
complete.  The open area to the lower left will hold a built in desk (kind of a kitchen office) for
my wife.
